What to expect

A 4-day, 3-night journey through the green mountains, lakes, waterfalls and historic sites of northeastern Turkey. Starting at Trabzon Airport, it visits Sumela Monastery and Karaca Cave, then explores Trabzon and Uzungol Lake. The route continues through Rize and Firtina Valley, with an overnight stay in the Ayder highlands, before returning to Trabzon Airport.
The tour operates as a group with an English-speaking guide and a maximum of 40 travelers. The activity level is described as relaxed, although walking around Uzungol and a light hike are included. Three nights are planned in Trabzon, Uzungol and Ayder respectively.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in Trabzon, Sumela Monastery, Zigana Mountains and Karaca Cave: Meet the guide at Trabzon Airport and visit historic Sumela Monastery in Altindere National Park. Continue through the Zigana Mountains, with village and mountain views, toward Gumushane and Karaca Cave. Hotel transfer and overnight in Trabzon. Dinner included.

Day 2 | Trabzon city tour and Uzungol: After breakfast, visit Trabzon's Hagia Sophia, Ataturk Mansion, the Girls' Monastery at Boztepe and Sera Lake. Stop at a local restaurant toward Akcaabat for lunch, which is not included. Continue to Uzungol for a walk around the lake and village. Overnight in Uzungol. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 3 | Rize, Firtina Valley, Zil Castle and Ayder: After breakfast, depart for Rize and stop for city views. Travel through Firtina Valley toward Camlihemsin, visiting Konaklar, historic Senyuva Bridge and Zil Castle. A light walk to Goksu Waterfall is also scheduled. Reach the Ayder highlands before sunset and stay overnight. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 4 | Ayder highlands and return to Trabzon Airport: After breakfast, explore highland houses, waterfalls, hot springs and natural scenery until around noon. In the afternoon, head toward the Sarp border area to see views of the Georgian frontier, then return along the Black Sea coast to Trabzon. The tour ends with an airport transfer. Breakfast included.
